Reversi Garden

About this game

Reversi Garden is reversi played with flower buds. The rules of this classic, also known as othello, are simple: plant a bud so that a straight line of the other colour sits between it and one of yours, and the whole line blooms into your colour. When the garden is full, the side with more buds wins.

The campaign runs through eight seasons of fifteen levels each. Every season brings a new trick to the board: pond stones that break lines, golden squares that count twice, orchard plots with bites taken out of them, mushroom squares where a bud can never flip, and frost that keeps squares frozen for a number of turns. Each season ends with its champion, and Lantern Night mixes everything together.

Every level is a full game against a garden host, from a sleepy bunny to a lamplighter cat who reads the board several moves ahead. Some levels are endgame puzzles checked by a solver: you move, the host plays perfectly, and you need the exact line that wins by the target.
